The Blue Marlin (Makaira nigricans) live across the world in the tropical and temperate oceanic waters. They are the largest fish in the sea with the females growing up to 16ft in length and around 1,400lbs.
They have been known to swim through a school of prey and use their bills to stun the fish then double back and eat them. Considered a prize big game fish they are sought after for sport and commercially. Their declining numbers have them listed as vulnerable, but not yet endangered.
