The Red Lionfish (Pterois volitans) is native to the Indo- Pacific and invasive here in the United States and the Caribbean. These red banded fish have venomous spikes on their fins, which leaves them with no known natural predators. The FWC encourages them to be harvested to help with their invasive spread. Once their fins are cut off they can be cleaned and eaten.
