The Loggerhead Sea Turtle (Caretta caretta) is the most common of the sea turtles in the United States. They grow to be around 250 pounds and 3 feet in length. Loggerheads have remained on the "threatened" species list under US Federal protection since 1978 while they are listed as "endangered" internationally.
