Have you ever wondered how color is applied to Geoffrey’s sculptures? It goes through a Patina process, which is the color added through chemicals, to make the sculpture come to life. It is a long process that is completed at a foundry that gives the sculpture a realistic look and feel. The bronze sculpture gets reheated to a temperature of over 200 degrees Fahrenheit before applying the patina. Different chemicals react with the bronze to achieve different colors. Once the desired color is achieved, the sculpture is rinsed with cold water to stop the chemical reaction.
