Presented as a pair, these two black-necked stilts capture a quiet dialogue between motion and stillness. One bends delicately to feed, frozen mid-gesture, while the other stands upright and watchful, its slender form calm and composed. Together, they reflect the natural rhythm of the bird’s life.
 
Sculpted as part of Geoffrey C. Smith’s Modern Collection, the pair is intentionally simplified, favoring smooth, fluid planes over detailed feathering. Deep black and smoky silver patinas move across the forms, allowing light and shadow to complete the sculpture.
