Grasshopper Sparrow

The Grasshopper Sparrow
(Ammodramus savannarum
is a critically endangered species. This species has declined significantly over the past few decades. Unlike most songbirds, the grasshopper sparrow tends to walk or run more than they fly. Much research and work has been done with FWC and White Oak Conservation to captive breed and reintroduces this species to the wild. Their name comes from their call because they sound like a grasshopper when they sing. (Photo Credit - FWC)
