There is a striking, unconventional beauty to Hogfish on Tube Coral. Rather than a traditional profile, this fine art bronze sculpture celebrates the eccentric anatomy and curious personality of one of the Atlantic reef’s most distinctive characters. The hogfish is captured mid-descent, its long, specialized snout and trailing dorsal streamers rendered with exceptional fluidity as it maneuvers around clusters of intricately detailed tube coral.
 
Utilizing the meticulous lost-wax method, the work effortlessly balances the smooth, broad planes of the fish’s body against the heavily textured, organic porousness of the seabed structure below. The hand-applied studio patina introduces rich, undulating oceanic hues—blending vibrant turquoise patinas along the scales with earthy, metallic tones on the coral branches. Standing nearly three feet tall, the artwork carries an imposing vertical movement, letting the shifting room light illuminate its textured surfaces and bringing a genuine piece of the living reef into a private space.
