Lifting Fog, Landing Cranes
Original Oil by Geoffrey C. Smith
72"l x 48"h
The fog lifts slowly over the marsh as sandhill cranes glide in, some just landing, others already wading through the shallows. It's a still, grounded moment, filled with the quiet motion of a Florida morning.
This work was born from Geoffrey Smith's ongoing exploration of how fog interacts with the environment - how it changes what we see, and how it shapes what we feel. The cranes' forms are as strong and true as ever, but here they move through a softened world - muted colors, blurred edges, and a gentle wash of atmosphere. Lifting Fog, Landing Cranes doesn't just show a flock arriving - it captures the experience of being there, as light and life slowly shift into view.
