Inspired by a pair of courting mourning doves observed just outside the studio, Geoffrey Smith created Lovie and Dovie to capture the quiet elegance and affection of these gentle birds. The life-size bronze sculptures depict one dove standing attentively while the other preens, their forms echoing the tender rhythm of companionship found in nature. Smith's detailed observation of their courtship dance informed every curve and gesture, transforming a fleeting moment into a timeless portrayal of devotion.
