A rare departure into pure abstraction by acclaimed artist Geoffrey C. Smith, Mother Ocean Hook is a miniature study of his monumental public sculpture of the same name. While Smith is widely celebrated for his highly detailed wildlife realism, this piece represents a minimalist approach designed to encompass the vast, shifting spirit of the sea in a single form. The sweeping curve acts as an open visual metaphor, inviting individual interpretation. To some, it suggests a cresting ocean wave or a falling droplet; to others, the organic silhouette of a whale's fluke, a diving mermaid, or a classic fishing hook.
 
Each limited-edition piece is hand-cast using the traditional lost-wax method and finished with multi-layered chemical patina. This specialized finish builds deep, varied undertones of turquoise and seafoam green directly into the bronze to mimic light filtering through open water. Each piece is signed, numbered, and mounted to a polished, circular hardwood base.
