Pieces of Eight Candelabra - Bronze Octopus Sculpture by Geoffrey C. Smith
Limited Edition Bronze Candelabra of an Octopus by Geoffrey C. Smith, 2019
18.5" L x 13.5" W x 14" H on a 12"D marble base.
Capturing the mystery and fluid grace of the deep sea, Pieces of Eight Candelabra blends fine art sculpture with functional maritime design. An octopus serves as the foundation of this piece, its powerful tentacles curling with lifelike motion as they reach upward to cradle four individual candleholders. Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, Smith hand-sculpts intricate detail throughout the composition, from the natural curvature of each arm to the textured suction cups along its underside.
A multi-layered patina enhances the organic detail of the bronze, creating rich highlights and shadows that catch the warm glow of candlelight. Mounted on a polished circular marble base, this medium-scale sculpture brings a striking, sculptural presence to any dining table.
