In "Rays of Light," Geoffrey C. Smith transforms the fluid grace of stingrays into functional sculptural candelabras. Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, the collection captures expressive, organic forms as each ray glides downward in a gentle dive. The set of three features subtle variations in form—one with an S-shaped tail, one with a straight tail, and one with a taller tail stem—each rising upward to hold a standard Shabbat-size candle.
A hand-applied mottled ring patina gives the metal multi-dimensional depth, mirroring the way a stingray's skin subtly shifts tone and reflects light as it moves through ocean waters. Mounted on 8" round granite bases, these sculptures balance fluid coastal motion with refined table styling, bringing a warm glow and underwater elegance to any space.
