Sailfish

Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus) are a type of billfish found in warm oceans around the world. The Sailfish can swim at speeds up to an incredible 68mph! They often feed in groups while cooperating to "herd" their prey. The Sailfish is instantly recognizable by its large dorsal fin, which is where the name comes from. I live in Stuart, FL  which is known as "The Sailfish Capital of the World". Here they have become iconic creatures of the sea and inspiration for my art.
