Inspired by a trip to Wolverine Creek on Alaska's Cook Inlet, Smith watched this mother bear fiercely chase away the older cubs to protect her young. Season of Abundance depicts the quiet, expectant moment right before that dramatic encounter, brought to life through rich oil textures and earthy tones.
