Ricky the chimpanzee sits in quiet reflection, his hands clasped together in Silent Thought. This piece is based on the real story of Ricky, a former circus performer who found sanctuary at Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he now lives in peace and dignity among his own kind.
Cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax method, Smith hand-sculpts the chimp's textured fur and soulful, contemplative facial expression. Resting on a turned round wooden base, this small-scale work honors Ricky's journey while highlighting the emotional depth and intelligence of chimpanzees. Available as a standalone sculpture and as a functional lamp.
In honor of Ricky, half the proceeds from every sale go to Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, Florida, helping to provide sanctuary and lifelong care for rescued chimpanzees.
