Gentle and full of life, "Spy Hopper" portrays a young humpback whale just beginning to explore the world beyond its mother’s side. Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, Smith hand-sculpts the soft contours and delicate eyes of the calf to capture a sense of innocence and curiosity.
A hand-applied blue patina ripples across the surface like refracted light in shallow ocean waters, giving the piece a vivid visual depth. Offered with or without a base, this small-scale sculpture brings a sense of youthful curiosity, discovery, and the quiet poetry of the sea into any room.
