Tricolored Heron on Tule - Life Size Bronze Sculpture by Geoffrey C. Smith
Limited Edition Bronze Sculpture of a Tricolored Heron by Geoffrey C. Smith, 2000
10"L x 11" W x 49"H, including the square marble base.
The serene, untouched beauty of the wetlands takes form in Tricolored Heron on Tule. This bronze sculpture depicts a tricolored heron balanced elegantly among slender marsh reeds. Utilizing the traditional lost-wax method, this detailed process brings out the soft, individual plumage textures of the heron alongside the rigid, linear surfaces of the surrounding tule reeds.
The composition rises from a naturalistic, organic base that mimics the native wetlands. Hand-applied finishes create a striking combination of realistic bird tones and deep patinas that actively interact with room lighting to add great visual depth. Bringing a calm, elegant presence to a room, the sculpture beautifully captures the poised stillness of coastal wildlife.
