Wetlands (Diptych) - Original Landscape Oil Painting by Geoffrey C. Smith

Original Oil Paintings on Wood Board of Wetlands by Geoffrey C. Smith, 2018
72" W x 48" H (36" W x 48" H each), sold as a set.

Immersing the viewer in a rippling mosaic of water and light, this artwork captures the quiet serenity of the Florida marshlands. The painted surface radiates with luminous blues, soft lavenders, and golden tones that seem to shimmer dynamically like a sunset reflecting on open water. Utilizing an expressive palette knife technique, the original landscape painting builds thick, rhythmic layers of impasto that give the composition a rich physical texture and visual movement.

Composed as a two panel installation, the individual artworks share a perfectly aligned horizon line to create an expansive, atmospheric sense of space. In person, the heavily layered oil paints catch the light from multiple angles, giving the scene an inner glow. With an immense physical footprint, this fine art installation serves as an unforgettable focal point that naturally grounds a room.
