Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is the largest of the North American Herons growing up to 4.5 feet in height. These stately long legged birds can be found wading for their meals in freshwater and saltwater year around here in Florida. Their lightening fast strike with their spear like bill allows them to catch fish and other small prey. They are not on the concerned list for being endangered.
