Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is the largest of the North American Herons growing up to 4.5 feet in height. These stately long-legged birds can be found wading for their meals in freshwater and saltwater year around here in Florida. Their lightning-fast strike with their spear-like bill allows them to catch fish and other small prey. They are not on the concerned list for being endangered.
